Letting the Voters Decide

Only a day into the reboot, and it would appear that my new design is crashing and burning with the voters. Since the look of this site is as much for the visitors as it is for me, I ask that if after viewing my site, you are compelled to give me a vote of less than three, comment here or on the reboot site and tell me why. While I can't make everyone happy, it would be nice to hear what you think I'm doing wrong, and perhaps correct it where I can.

Of course, feel free to comment if you you see something you like as well…After all, I can accept praise just as easily as criticism.

Update: I've brought back a new and improved version of last years RebootRank™. Since there are so many rebooters this time around, I opted not to count overall placement, but instead my actual voting average.

I actually thought this was one of the better designs, and I've been through many others. Too many of the competing designs are extremely hard on the eyes and it is difficult to find their content- they completely lack any kind of functionality and for most of them I just close the tab right away. They are not useable nor are they enjoyable to read. Sure, the colours they are using might be really vibrant and contrasty, but holy hell I can't read your latest post re. your may 1 reboot, you tool. The only thing I dislike is the prominence of the text ads. I'm only now coming to the realization as I look at your site- you call yourself a web development/ graphic designer guy/girl, and yet I cannot find any "about" "portfolio" or similar link. So this is just a blog then? wtf? How are you selling you/your firm if the aforementioned items are missing?

I appreciate your candid comments. The text ads aren't getting any positive attention in their current location, and will be moved to a less conspicuous spot. As for the missing portfolio, I realize the gap that it leaves in the site by not existing. I mentioned in my previous post from May 1st that although it was intended to be ready for the reboot, it didn't make it, and will be up shortly.

Hello fellow rebooter :) I like your design pretty much, it's pleasing to the eyes and well-readable. Only thing I would change is the line length, which should be shorter in my eyes. But you mention voting less than three. Look at the scores right now. In the beginning, people started away voting 4 or 5 stars (including me), but now, after a few days, highest score is up to some 2,4 or alike. What has happened? I guess there have been a few jealous souls, which wanted to see their own design on top, so they just voted everybody else down, no matter the quality of the site. Now everybody ends up with 2 stars. Strange? There are even a few designs on the front page (high to low score) which I think would never have made it there without cheating (no seriously!). I imagine those poor pigs sitting in front of their computer all day, deleting cookies (or watching their script do the work), and spreading one-stars at all the others, getting a stiffy over their site climbing up the rankings. Maybe just some negative thought of mine? Don't know. What d'you think?

The funny thing is, I was considering making my "ranking" badge at the top use letters as in grade school. But it dawned on me that it would always read "F" and I didn't want visitors from places other than the reboot to get that sort of impression right from the start.
